The tiger building

The tiger building

The ‘Tiger’ building, as it is known, is located in Botica Vieja street, opposite the Euskalduna Palace Conference Centre, and is a very popular building in Bilbao because of the huge sculpture of a feline that looks out from the roof; some people still confuse it with a lioness.

In 1942 Alavan sculptor Joaquín Lucarini was commissioned to put a large concrete tiger on top of the building.

Recently this industrial building was given a face lift to turn it into houses and commercial spaces.
